Frequently Asked Questions

This section covers the most common questions developers, product managers, and marketers have when working with RCS Business Messaging (RBM). Whether you're just getting started or optimizing an existing campaign, the answers here will help clarify key concepts, technical requirements, limitations, and best practices.
RCS offers a richer, more interactive messaging experience than traditional SMS—featuring media support, branded sender information, quick replies, and actionable suggestion chips. With these advanced capabilities come specific guidelines and considerations for implementation.
1. How mature is RCS adoption in our core markets?
Let’s start with the basics. RCS is not yet supported everywhere for business messaging. RCS for Business is available on Android devices in most markets, and Apple has started rolling it out in some countries with some carriers. That means:
➤ If you serve a global audience, RCS support will vary by country.
➤ If your customers are in countries where Android penetration is high (like in Brazil, India, or Mexico) or you know your customers mostly use Android, RCS is probably worth prioritizing.
➤ If your audience skews iOS like the U.S., keep in mind that many leading carriers are already supporting RCS for Business on iOS and Android, and businesses are using it for one- and two-way messaging already.
2. What’s the fallback plan for non-RCS devices or carriers?
3. Is RCS secure enough for sensitive messages like OTPs?
4. What’s required to get approved as a RCS Agent)?
5. What is Basic Message?
6. What is Single Message?
7. Basic and Single Message Ideal scenarios?
